In my earlier days, I switched between distributions quite frequently, trying different setups and figuring out what worked best for me. Over time, I realized something important: the distribution you choose doesn’t define what you can do with Linux. While some tasks might be easier on Arch Linux than on Debian or Fedora, all three give you the freedom to build a system that suits your needs.

Vay Linux #Docs

Documentation

Welcome to the Vay documentation. Here you’ll find everything you need to build the ISO, install Vay, and get started with your new system.

Building the ISO

Prerequisites

Currently, Vay ISO images must be built manually. You’ll need a working Void Linux installation to build the ISO. Prebuilt ISO images and automated container-based builds are planned for the future.

Before you begin, make sure you have:

A working Void Linux base system

The required build dependencies installed

An active internet connection

Enough free disk space for the build and resulting ISO

Note: The Makefile does not install build dependencies. You must install the required tools yourself before building Vay.

Vay Linux #i3blocks

Modules

gpu: Is a lua written script to get GPU-Stats for amd-cards (currently, nvidia + intel are comming) fast

cpu: Also a lua written script to get cpu stats from standard linux fs

battery: Is also lua written, a battery script to display the capacity

volume: This is a small shell-script that interacts with vay-volume to determine the volume and display or change it (on mouse wheel)

memory: Is also a lua written script, to determine memory and pass it to i3blocks

Vay Linux #showcase

i3blocks
